CSA Member Contract 2012
Eat local. Eat small. Eat loved.2012 Community Supported Agriculture Program
Welcome! As a Shareholding Member of Circle M Market Farm, you are a very important part of the circle of nurture here at our 20-acre homestead. We look forward to a wonderful season together as we steward the land, shepherd the animals and care for the gardens—providing you with a fresh variety of high-quality, chemical-free, simply delicious, ultra-nutritious produce that is quite pretty, too!
In our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, Members pay a fee prior to the growing season, in exchange for boxes packed June through October. This provides the farm with cash to purchase seeds and make needed farm improvements in the off-season. Once the growing season is under way, Members receive bi-weekly allotments of the farm harvest. Full Share boxes are approximately 2.2 cubic feet – early season boxes are sometimes light, and late season boxes are full to overflowing, with pumpkins and squash on the side. We now offer Shortie Shares due to customer demand, which are a little more than half the size of Full Share boxes. Herb and flower bouquets are included in both when available. We always plan to have more than enough produce for our Member boxes, but should weather or pests destroy some of the crops, under CSA principles, both the farmer and the consumer agree to share the inherent bounty and/or risk associated with growing chemical-free crops. To help you make the most out of your vegetable harvest, we include storage tips, nutritional information and lots of recipes in every box. Our weekly farm blog expands on that information with still more recipes, pictures and videos.
As a Shareholding Member of Circle M, this farm is yours to enjoy – feel free to call and schedule visits, tours, shuttled canoe outings or camping trips. We have two open houses to gather CSA Members and like-minded community folks for activities and potluck meals: Our Lambs and Lettuces Festival is Saturday, June 2, and Homestead Harvest Day is Saturday, October 13. You’ll also get a 10% discount on wellness and woolcraft workshops held at the farm. Meanwhile, keep up on what is happening here every day via the Farm Almanac Blog. This website is also the best source of information about our growing practices, storage recommendations and recipes from past boxes. Like us on facebook for mini-updates and delivery day reminders.
At Circle M, animals are an integral part of our agricultural philosophy. We can’t imagine farming without them! They provide fertility for our soil, aeration and tilling of our garden plots and humor to our lives, in addition to delicious meats and super-soft wool. If you’d like to have our pastured Homestead Beef, Pork, Lamb, Eggs or Wool Products come with your box, just place an email or phone order by the Wednesday before a delivery or on Thursday before farm pickup.
