2009 CSA Member Contract

Eat local. Eat small. Eat loved.

Welcome to the Circle! As a Shareholding Member of Circle M Market Farm’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) family, you are a very important part of the circle of nurture here at our 20-acre homestead. We look forward to a wonderful 2009 season together as we steward the land, shepherd the animals and care for the gardens—providing you with a steady variety of high-quality, chemical-free, simply delicious, ultra-nutritious produce that is quite pretty, too!

In our CSA model, Members pay a fee prior to the growing season, in exchange for boxes delivered or picked up June through October. This allows us to purchase seeds and supplies, and make needed farm improvements in the off-season. When the growing season is under way, members receive bi-weekly allotments of the farm harvest. We always plan to have more than enough produce for our Member boxes, but should weather or pests destroy some of the crops, under CSA principles, both the farmer and the consumer agree to share the inherent bounty and/or risk associated with growing chemical-free crops.

Our commitment to you is that we will do our very best to keep boxes full and varied, come what may in the gardens. We’ll also supply you with storage tips and delicious recipes so you can make the most of those bounty crops!

Your commitment to us, beyond your financial support, is that you will arrive at scheduled delivery or pick-up points on time. This is vital both for the freshness of the vegetables, which are often harvested the day of delivery, and also for their nutritional content. Should you have to miss a pick-up, we cannot guarantee the availability or freshness of make-up boxes, which you will have to schedule to pick up at the farm. If you give us at least a week’s notice before a missed delivery, we can make alternate arrangements. Call 608-523-4341 or leave a message on the blog.

We have two open houses to gather CSA Members and like-minded community folks for activities and pot-luck meals: June 13 is our Lambs and Lettuces Festival and October 24 is the Homestead Harvest Day. We’ll send you event schedules for those. Meanwhile, keep up on what is happening here every day via the Farm Almanac Blog at circlemfarm.com. The website is also the best source of information about our growing practices, delivery schedules and recipes from past boxes.
