A Pig is Born
This is Brindle being born. It’s a pretty fast and slippery process.
He was number 6, as I recall, and he really just flew out. But a few of the later pigs (there ended up being 14) came out a bit slower and with a few I grabbed legs and gently pulled since I could tell Pigabella was tired after about 3 hours. You can see in the video that Brindle is really struggling against that thick umbilical cord, and that wasn’t typical of the other pigs. Most of the cords just snapped off quite easily. I think Brindle actually developed a hernia of some sort from pulling against it, and he ended up not being able to pee or poop and died a few days later. He was my favorite and we did bring him in the garage to bottle feed him and try to get his bowels moving. Poor little guy. I think it was remarkable how strong he came out.
