Lambs and Lettuces Festival 2010! Saturday, June 5
Please join us for a day of fun on the farm! Be sure to bring lawn chairs and something to share for our potluck meal at 6pm. We’ll have activities planned all day, but one of the wonderful things about this place is that there are many many quiet vistas from which you can see the various animals doing what they do. You’ll want to sit and watch with a cool drink. Brats and drinks available for sale from noon to 2 pm, potluck at 6 pm, bluegrass music during dinner and a bonfire with s’mores at dark. Bring friends! See the schedule…
Noon to 1pm Wild Herb Walk
Madison herbalist Nicole Klinge recently offered some very popular heb workshops here at the farm and at various venues in the area. She will lead us on a walk around the farm to see what wild herbs are growing now and teach us how we can improve our health and well being through using them.
2 to 3pm Horse Rides for Little Ones
Our pretty red filly, Zinnia, is always up for a grooming from our young guests, and we’ll put those who are interested up in her saddle for a walk in the round pen.
3 to 4pm Spinning Demo
Come see what we do with the wool from all of our sheep – spin! See some of our friends and neighbors make wool on drop spindles and spinning wheels. Try your hand at carding fluffy locks.
4 to 5pm Felted Flowers and Other Wooly Fun
Yarn isn’t the only thing to make out of wool – get messy and make some cool projects with felt, both wet and dry. Use both slime and needles.
5pm Goat Milking and Calf Bottling
Learn how to milk a goat and watch the calves get fed their bottles. We’ll also feed Rosie the bottle lamb and take a peek at the baby chicks.
6pm Potluck
Always a highlight of our farm festivals, the potluck is the crowning community event of the day. We’ll provide Circle M Garden Pork Smoked Ham and a sweet Rhubarb Cake, and you fill in the rest. Make what you want to show off, or bring something easy. Drinks, chips, sides dishes and desserts are all appreciated!
6:30pm MooGrass Bluegrass String Band
Whether you dance, sing along or just tap your toes, we think you’ll love the old time and bluegrass standards as played by Moo Grass – with Peg Cullen on violin, Bob Cullen on banjo and dobro, Carole Spelic on stand-up bass, Kriss Marion on guitar, and everyone taking a turn on vocals or whistling!
