Lamb Cam: April 2012
We’ve barely started our lambing season here at Circle M, which is not what we intended. On my calendar I’d marked early March to watch for babies, but we didn’t have our first until the 29th. What happened? Well – who knows? Much of what goes on in farming is part science and mostly mystery. We put the ram in with the ewes in late September, expecting lots of lambs five months later. But Curly was a new ram to us (farmers in my neighborhood switch rams every few years to keep genetics fresh), and maybe the girls just didn’t warm up to him for a while. Maybe the weather was too warm or too cold for them to cycle. In any case, now we’ve finally got lambs coming and April should be a quite exciting month. Take a look:
