Our pretty hens are true free-range birds. They are let out of the house in the morning and they spend the day foraging until dusk when they hustle back into the house and we lock out all potential predators. When you visit the farm, the first thing you are likely to notice is that our chickens have the run of the place – and that’s the way we like it. We find it delightful to watch our birds run and explore the fields and hedgerows.
What does that have to do with eggs? Everything! When you crack open a Circle M egg, you see the result immediately in the color of the yolk – which is bright orange. We feed our hens free-choice organic grains, but that is just a portion of what they eat. Mostly, they eat grass and weeds. They eat lots of bugs and beetles and worms and moths. We’ve even seen them make meals of frogs and mice! No chicken is a vegetarian by choice, and ours take full advantage of the buffet available to them here on the farm.
Our eggs aren’t cheap, but they certainly pack a nutritional punch and are packed with rich, deep flavor and color. Picked with love for you daily from our busy coop.
