Meet The Flock
Here at Circle M, we primarily raise Finn-Rambouillet sheep, a French Merino breed selected for softness and tight crimp. The wool from these smallish animals is great for next-to-the-skin projects and things that need to be stretchy, like hats and gloves. We also raise Jacob Sheep, a very small, spotted heritage breed, so we can get a range of colors and textures. These fleeces are tougher and coarser, and make great durable goods like rugs and felted projects. All of our wool comes from animals that we raise, so we can offer the finest fibers, free of chemicals, prepared in the most humane and gentle way. We shear in early summer so that the animals can have as much protection from the elements as possible. Then we wash, kettle dye and hand card all of the fiber we harvest right here in our Summer Kitchen Dye Studio. We value our little flock (25 to 50 animals, depending on the time of year) for their lovely soft wool, their unique voices and and all the antics they entertain us with in every season. Come visit them, you’ll love them, too! Or just stay connected via our facebook page, where we post lots of pictures and news about births, adventures and events at the farm. Here is a look at some of our little darlings, along with the dogs that keep them safe:
